Brocade compatible 10G-SFPP-USR-8 Description
EdgeOptic's 10G-SFPP-USR-8 compatible is the 10GBASE-SR SFP+ upgrade alternative for the legacy Brocade 10G-SFPP-USR-8 8-pack ordering configuration of the 10GBASE-USR module. The original 8-pack is a procurement bundle of the Brocade 10G-SFPP-USR: eight individual 10 Gbps Ultra Short Reach SFP+ transceivers, each rated to 100 m on OM3 multimode fiber for short intra-rack links on Brocade SAN platforms. The EdgeOptic 10GBASE-SR SFP+ shares the same SFP+ cage, LC duplex interface, and 850 nm VCSEL technology, and extends the reach envelope to 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 multimode fiber.
The SR replacement is built to IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR with a 6.1 dB optical budget, transmit power between −5 and 0 dBm, and receive sensitivity better than −11.1 dBm. The SFP+ host cage that previously accepted the 10G-SFPP-USR ordering code is the same physical interface, so the SR module drops into the same port without cage migration. The reach envelope of 300 m on OM3 is a superset of the original USR 100 m specification, so any link the USR could carry will run on the SR. Digital diagnostics per SFF-8472 reports temperature, supply voltage, transmit bias current, transmit power, and receive power on every read.
Brocade-recognized EEPROM coding identifies the module under the ordering code that the host expects, so the SFP+ registers cleanly under the standard transceiver acceptance policy on Brocade SAN switches. The EdgeOptic SR replacement is governed by IEEE 802.3ae Clause 52 for 10GBASE-SR multimode operation, and SFF-8431 governs the SFP+ electrical and mechanical interface.
