EdgeOptic's E1MG-TX-A8 compatible is a Brocade-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-T multi-vendor 10/100/1000BASE-T copper SFP transceiver. E1MG-TX-A8 is Brocade's 8-pack ordering code for the E1MG-TX copper SFP; EdgeOptic supplies its compatible as an individual module so the order quantity matches the deployment rather than a fixed 8-pack. It matches the form factor and reach of the original Brocade copper SFP and drops into the same RJ45 SFP ports that already accept the OEM part.

The transceiver runs over unshielded twisted-pair cable, with up to 100 m of reach on Cat 5, Cat 5e, or Cat 6. The RJ45 connector accepts standard structured cabling, and the tri-speed chipset auto-negotiates 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T, the Gigabit rate built to IEEE 802.3ab, with Auto MDI/MDI-X handling straight or crossover wiring.
