D-link compatible DEM-431XT Description
EdgeOptic's DEM-431XT compatible is a D-Link-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver, programmed with the vendor data D-Link managed-switch firmware reads during module enumeration. The DEM-431XT is D-Link's standard 10GBASE-SR ordering code for the DGS-3130, DGS-3630, DXS-1100, DXS-1210, DXS-3400, and DXS-3600 managed-switch families. D-Link publishes the same optical specification across the 431XT and 431XT-DD ordering codes. The -DD suffix in some D-Link data sheets is a marketing emphasis of the DDM capability rather than an optical or mechanical difference, since the base DEM-431XT already supports DDM per the D-Link product page.
Optical engine implements IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR: 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, 850 nm PIN photodiode receiver, 10.3125 Gbps line rate, duplex LC connector. Reach is 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 multimode fiber per the IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR specification. D-Link specifies TX optical power at up to −1 dBm and RX sensitivity better than −11.1 dBm for the DEM-431XT. SFF-8472 DDM/DOM exposes TX power, RX power, laser bias, supply voltage, and module temperature, accessible through D-Link Network Assistant and the switch Web GUI transceiver diagnostics. Built to the SFP+ MSA per SFF-8431; RoHS, MSA, UL, TUV, CDRH, CE, FCC, and VCCI compliant; commercial 0 to 70 °C operating range.
On DGS-3630-28SC and 52TC core switches and DXS-3600-32S aggregation switches the optic seats in any SFP+ port for short-reach uplinks between DGS-1510-28XMP PoE edge stacks and the core, and on DXS-1210 Smart-Pro family ports it terminates 10G server uplinks inside the wiring closet. Adjacent D-Link 10G SFP+ ordering codes split by fiber type: DEM-432XT is the 10GBASE-LR 1310 nm single-mode variant for 10 km runs, and DEM-433XT is the 10GBASE-ER 1550 nm single-mode variant for 40 km runs. Use DEM-431XT only where the fiber plant is OM3 or OM4 multimode inside the building or a single data-centre row; verify both endpoints carry the same standard before mixing modules across a DXS-3600 core and a DGS-1510 edge stack.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For volume DGS / DXS deployments or to align DEM-431XT inventory with a mixed-vintage D-Link switch estate, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is DEM-431XT the same part as DEM-431XT-DD?
Optically they are equivalent. Both are 850 nm 10GBASE-SR SFP+ modules with 300 m OM3 reach and SFF-8472 DDM support. The -DD suffix in some D-Link data sheets emphasizes the DDM (digital diagnostics monitoring) capability in the ordering code itself, but the base DEM-431XT also supports DDM per D-Link's product page. Order whichever ordering code matches the existing chassis spare-parts manifest; the optic enumerates the same way under either string.
How does DEM-431XT differ from DEM-432XT and DEM-433XT?
Fiber type and reach are the differences. DEM-431XT is 10GBASE-SR over OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber at 850 nm, 300 m on OM3 inside the building. DEM-432XT is 10GBASE-LR over single-mode at 1310 nm, 10 km for inter-building runs. DEM-433XT is 10GBASE-ER over single-mode at 1550 nm, 40 km for longer metro runs. All three are SFP+ form factor, but the fiber types are not interchangeable, so putting an SR optic onto a single-mode pair or an LR optic onto multimode produces a link error.
