400G QSFP-DD to 2x200G QSFP56 Passive Copper Breakout Cable Description
Our EDGEOPTIC 400G-PDAC-QSFP-DD-2xQSFP56 is a multi-vendor compatible 400G QSFP-DD passive direct attach copper breakout cable designed for ultra-high-performance 400 Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand HDR applications within modern data center environments. The cable features a breakout configuration with a QSFP-DD (Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable Double Density) connector on one end and two QSFP56 connectors on the other, enabling efficient 400G to dual 200G connectivity for flexible spine-leaf architectures, AI/ML clusters, and hyperscale infrastructure.
The cable supports multi-rate operation from 212.5 to 425 Gbps, meeting the demanding bandwidth requirements of next-generation networks. It enables 400G Ethernet operation at 425 Gbps on the QSFP-DD side while splitting into two independent 200G Ethernet links at 212.5 Gbps each on the QSFP56 side. In addition, the cable supports InfiniBand HDR at 200 Gbps per branch, making it highly suitable for high-performance computing, GPU-based workloads, and latency-sensitive distributed systems.
As a passive DAC solution, the 400G-PDAC-QSFP-DD-2xQSFP56 requires no external power and introduces near-zero latency, providing an optimal solution for short-reach, high-speed interconnects. The cable is designed for distances ranging from 0.5 to 3 meters, ensuring reliable signal integrity and consistent performance within high-density rack deployments. Its construction utilizes high-quality twinax copper optimized for high-speed PAM4 signaling, delivering stable electrical performance across all supported data rates.
The electrical interface complies with QSFP-DD and QSFP56 MSA standards, ensuring interoperability with a broad range of networking equipment from leading vendors. The cable incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality, allowing real-time access to operational parameters such as temperature and voltage for improved network visibility and management. It is also compliant with CMIS 4.0, enabling advanced management and control features within compatible systems.
Designed for operation within a standard temperature range of 0 to 70°C, the cable is suitable for controlled data center environments. With an MTBF rating of 1,000,000 hours, it delivers long-term reliability for mission-critical deployments. Typical applications include 400G switch-to-switch breakout links, GPU cluster interconnects, high-speed storage fabrics, and scalable cloud infrastructure where bandwidth density and low latency are essential.
Our 400G QSFP-DD to 2xQSFP56 passive DAC cable is CE and RoHS certified and compliant with industry safety and environmental standards. Each unit undergoes comprehensive quality assurance testing, including electrical validation, connector inspection, and EEPROM data verification, ensuring consistent performance and reliability prior to deployment.
