400G QSFP-DD to 8x50G SFP56 Passive DAC (0.5-3m) Description
Our EDGEOPTIC 400G-PDAC-QSFP-DD-8xSFP56 is a multi-vendor compatible 400G QSFP-DD passive direct attach copper breakout cable designed for ultra-high-performance 400 Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand HDR applications in modern data center and high-performance computing environments. The cable features a breakout configuration with a QSFP-DD (Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable Double Density) connector on one end and eight SFP56 connectors on the other, enabling efficient 400G to 8×50G fan-out connectivity for high-density switching, AI/ML clusters, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
The cable supports multi-rate operation from 53.125 to 425 Gbps, allowing a single 400G QSFP-DD port to be split into eight independent 50G links. This enables flexible deployment across 50G server connections while maintaining aggregated 400G bandwidth on the switch side. It supports 400G Ethernet at 425 Gbps and 50G Ethernet at 53.125 Gbps per lane, along with InfiniBand HDR compatibility, making it well suited for high-throughput, low-latency environments such as GPU clusters, distributed computing platforms, and high-speed storage fabrics.
As a passive DAC solution, the 400G-PDAC-QSFP-DD-8xSFP56 requires no external power and introduces near-zero latency, ensuring optimal performance for short-reach interconnects. The cable is designed for distances ranging from 0.5 to 3 meters and utilizes high-quality 28 AWG twinax copper construction to maintain signal integrity and stable PAM4 transmission across all lanes. This design ensures reliable operation in high-density rack environments where cable management and consistent performance are critical.
The electrical interface complies with QSFP-DD and SFP56 MSA standards, ensuring broad interoperability with networking equipment from leading vendors. The cable also incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality, providing real-time access to key operational parameters such as temperature and voltage for improved monitoring and system management. Compliance with CMIS 4.0 further enhances management capabilities within compatible platforms.
Designed for operation within a standard temperature range of 0 to 70°C, the cable is suitable for controlled data center environments. With an MTBF rating of 1,000,000 hours, it delivers long-term reliability for mission-critical deployments. Typical applications include high-density switch-to-server connectivity, 400G breakout to multiple 50G endpoints, AI/ML cluster networking, and hyperscale data center interconnects where bandwidth efficiency and low latency are essential.
Our 400G QSFP-DD to 8xSFP56 passive DAC cable is CE and RoHS certified and compliant with industry standards such as IEEE 802.3cd, SFF-8432, SFF-8636, and InfiniBand HDR specifications. Each cable undergoes comprehensive quality assurance testing, including electrical validation, connector inspection, and EEPROM data verification, ensuring consistent performance and reliability prior to deployment.
