40G QSFP+ Passive DAC Twinax Copper Cable (0.5-5m) Description
Our EDGEOPTIC 40G-PDAC-QSFP is a multi-vendor compatible 40G QSFP+ passive direct attach copper cable designed for high-density 40 Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, and InfiniBand applications within data center environments. The 40G-PDAC-QSFP cable features point-to-point configuration with QSFP+ connectors on both ends, delivering reliable high-bandwidth connectivity for short-reach interconnects between switches, servers, and storage systems.
The cable supports multi-rate operation from 2.125 to 41.2 Gbps, accommodating various network protocols and applications. For Ethernet deployments, the cable handles both 10G Ethernet at 10.31 Gbps and 40G Ethernet at 41.25 Gbps. Fiber Channel support includes 2G, 4G, 8G, and 10G FC rates ranging from 2.125 Gbps to 10.52 Gbps, making it suitable for SAN connectivity. Additionally, the cable supports InfiniBand applications including SDR at 10 Gbps, DDR at 20 Gbps, and QDR at 40 Gbps for high-performance computing clusters.
As a passive DAC solution, the 40G-PDAC-QSFP requires no external power and introduces zero latency to signal transmission, making it ideal for latency-sensitive applications. The cable construction utilizes high-quality twinax copper with AWG30 gauge for lengths from 0.5 to 4 meters and AWG26 gauge for the 5-meter variant. This wire gauge optimization ensures optimal signal integrity across the full distance range while maintaining cable flexibility for easier routing in dense rack environments.
The electrical interface conforms to QSFP+ MSA and SFF-8436 specifications, ensuring broad compatibility with standard QSFP+ host systems from multiple equipment vendors. Our 40G QSFP+ DAC cables can be encoded for compatibility with over 80 different equipment brands. The cable incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality, providing real-time diagnostic data including module temperature and supply voltage through the MSA-compatible interface.
Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3ba for 40 Gigabit Ethernet alongside QDR InfiniBand specifications. The cable operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range, suitable for controlled data center environments. With an MTBF rating of 1,000,000 hours, the cable delivers long-term reliability for mission-critical infrastructure.
Typical deployment scenarios include top-of-rack switch interconnects, server-to-switch connectivity, storage area network links, and high-performance computing cluster connections. The passive design eliminates power consumption concerns and reduces overall system power budget compared to active optical solutions.
Our 40G QSFP+ passive DAC is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with product safety standards. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform comprehensive quality checks before delivery of our products. As a result, we conduct electrical parameter measurements, connector inspection tests, and QSFP+ EEPROM memory data validation tests to ensure reliable operation in your network infrastructure.
