Extreme compatible 10301 Description

EdgeOptic's 10301 compatible is an Extreme Networks-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver. The Extreme Networks EEPROM identifies the optic as a recognized accessory on ExtremeSwitching platforms, so the switch accepts the module on the SFP+ port without an unsupported-transceiver warning in EXOS or Switch Engine logs. One universal SR hardware platform, 80+ vendor codes, including this Extreme variant.

Optical specifications, 10GBASE-SR class with 1000BASE-SX dual-rate capability. 850 nm VCSEL, PIN photodiode receiver, multi-mode duplex LC. Reach is 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4. TX output power runs −5 to 0 dBm, receiver sensitivity −11.1 dBm, receiver overload 0 dBm, link budget 6.1 dB. Multi-rate scope spans 1.25 to 11.32 Gbps. DDM/DOM is supported per SFF-8472 via the 2-wire serial interface. Compliance: SFF-8431, SFP MSA, IEEE 802.3ae, RoHS, IEC60825-1 Class 1 laser safety. Operating range 0 to 70°C commercial.

10301 is the Extreme Networks part number for the standard 10GBASE-SR SFP+ used across the ExtremeSwitching X-series, including the X435, X440-G2, X460-G2, X465, X590, X620, X690, and X870 lines. The Extreme EEPROM lets the optic register cleanly during port-up under both EXOS and the newer Switch Engine release train. Verify the switch model and software release against the Extreme Networks 10G Optics datasheet at quote stage, since SFP+ qualification varies by line card and release.

Extreme acquired the Brocade data center networking business in 2017, and the VDX and SLX lines that came with that acquisition use Brocade-lineage 10G-SFPP-SR part numbers rather than the Extreme 10301 code. The 10301 carries Extreme Networks EEPROM, the 10G-SFPP-SR carries Brocade EEPROM, and the two are not interchangeable across platforms despite identical 10GBASE-SR optics. Order the part number that matches the switch lineage in inventory.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty included. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Extreme 10301 the same as the Brocade 10G-SFPP-SR?

Both part numbers cover the same 10GBASE-SR optical specification at 850 nm with 300 m OM3 reach, but the EEPROM coding is different. Extreme 10301 carries Extreme Networks EEPROM for ExtremeSwitching X-series platforms. Brocade 10G-SFPP-SR carries Brocade EEPROM for the VDX and SLX lines that Extreme acquired in 2017. The optical hardware is interchangeable; the coding is not. Order 10301 for ExtremeSwitching gear and 10G-SFPP-SR for VDX or SLX gear that retains its Brocade software identity.
