EdgeOptic's FTLF8524P2BNL compatible is the 10GBASE-SR SFP+ upgrade alternative for the legacy Finisar FTLF8524P2BNL 4GFC Shortwave SFP module. The original FTLF8524P2BNL is a regular SFP (not SFP+) multi-rate Fibre Channel Shortwave optic supporting 1, 2, and 4 Gbps Fibre Channel rates, with a maximum signaling rate of 4.25 Gbps governed by the INCITS 404-2006 FC-PI-2 standard for 4GFC. The original module reaches 150 m on OM3 multimode fiber at 4GFC consistent with published specifications across vendor listings for this part number and was widely deployed across 2/4GFC SAN fabric switches from Brocade, Cisco MDS, HP StorageWorks, and other vendors before the SFP+ transition to 8GFC and 16GFC fabrics.
