EdgeOptic's FTLF8528P2BCV compatible is a Finisar-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-rate SFP+ transceiver, supplied for 8 Gbps Fibre Channel Short Wave operation on host bus adapters and SAN fabric switches. Finisar-recognized EEPROM lets the optic register cleanly on the host's SFP+ cage, so the platform accepts the module without a vendor-mismatch warning. One universal multi-rate hardware platform, 80+ vendor codes, including this Finisar 8GFC base variant.

FTLF8528P2BCV (P2) and FTLF8528P3BCV (P3) are two generations of the Finisar 8GFC Short Wave SFP+ family, both rated for 2/4/8 Gbps Fibre Channel at 850 nm over multi-mode fiber. The optical specifications are equivalent at the FC-PI-4 level, so a P2 and a P3 module will link at 8 Gbps in the same SAN port. Some HBA and fabric switch firmware track the exact generation EEPROM identifier for inventory reporting, however, so when mixing generations across the same fabric verify that the host platform's transceiver compatibility documentation accepts both P2 and P3 form codes before deploying a mixed population.
