Finisar FTLF8528P3BNV Compatible 8GFC SW SFP+ Extended Temp

EdgeOptic's FTLF8528P3BNV compatible is a Finisar-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor multi-rate SFP+ transceiver, configured for 8G Fibre Channel short-wave operation across an extended temperature envelope. FTLF8528P3BNV is the Finisar (now Coherent) ordering code for the extended-temperature 8GFC SW SFP+ in the original Finisar FTLF8528P3 family. The optic carries Finisar-recognized EEPROM identification so SAN switch firmware registers the module under the standard transceiver-acceptance policy.

The module operates per INCITS 450-2008 FC-PI-4 at 8.5 Gbps signaling, 850 nm VCSEL into duplex LC, with up to 150 m on OM3 multimode fiber consistent with the FC-PI-4 8GFC SW product class. The optic is multi-rate: 8.5 Gbps for 8GFC, 4.25 Gbps for 4GFC, and 2.125 Gbps for 2GFC, so the fabric port negotiates to the highest common rate during link bring-up. DDM telemetry per SFF-8472 Rev. 11.0 exposes the standard transceiver health parameters: temperature, supply voltage, TX bias, TX power, and RX power. Form factor is SFP+ (SFF-8431 MSA). Operating temperature range is −5 to 85 °C per the Coherent FTLF8528P3BNV product specification, above the 0 to 70 °C commercial range of the FTLF8528P3BCV standard-temperature sibling.

The extended temperature envelope suits deployment in industrial SAN environments, outdoor cabinets, and storage equipment where ambient temperature margin against the standard commercial range is too thin. The optical specification (850 nm, 150 m OM3, FC-PI-4 compliance) is identical to the standard-temperature FTLF8528P3BCV. IBM ships an FTLF8528P3BNV-EM variant with IBM-coded EEPROM for IBM server SAN environments; the EdgeOptic FTLF8528P3BNV compatible serves the base Finisar ordering code, not the IBM-suffixed variant. The FC-PI-4 standard governs Fibre Channel Physical Interface compliance for 8GFC short-wave; the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards do not apply to this Fibre Channel optic.
