25G Fronthaul ER SFP28 40km Industrial Transceiver Description

Our EDGEOPTIC 25GFH-SFP28-40I is a multi-vendor compatible 25G Fronthaul ER SFP28 dual-fiber optical module engineered for long-distance mobile fronthaul applications in demanding outdoor and industrial environments. Combining an extended operating temperature range from -45°C to +85°C with 40-kilometer reach over single-mode fiber, this industrial-grade transceiver represents the ultimate solution for challenging 5G and LTE fronthaul deployments requiring both maximum distance and environmental resilience.

The 25GFH-SFP28-40I module operates at 1310nm wavelength for both transmission and reception, supporting data rates from 8.5 to 28.1 Gbps. This multi-rate capability enables compatibility with various CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) options including CPRI Option 7 at 9.830 Gbps, Option 8 at 10.138 Gbps, Option 9 at 12.165 Gbps, and Option 10 at 24.33 Gbps. The transceiver explicitly supports eCPRI protocols alongside legacy CPRI standards and includes host-based Forward Error Correction for enhanced signal integrity across long-haul fronthaul distances in extreme thermal conditions.

Our 25G Fronthaul ER SFP28 industrial transceiver utilizes DML (Directly Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for signal reception. The APD receiver technology provides significantly enhanced sensitivity compared to PIN-based alternatives, essential for maintaining reliable links over extended distances regardless of temperature fluctuations. The module ensures a 16 dB guaranteed optical link budget, enabling transmission over 40 kilometers of single-mode fiber. The transmitter operates within a wavelength bandwidth of 30nm with launch power ranging from 0 dBm to 6 dBm. The receiver sensitivity spans from -19 dBm to -5 dBm with overload protection at -3 dBm.

The 25GFH-SFP28-40I compatible 25G Fronthaul ER module is a hot-pluggable SFP28 transceiver featuring duplex LC/UPC connectors as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431, SFF-8432, and SFP28 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP28 host systems across multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our industrial-grade 25G Fronthaul ER SFP28 transceiver can be programmed for compatibility with various network equipment manufacturers.

The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time operational parameters including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic capability becomes particularly valuable in remote outdoor deployments where environmental monitoring is essential for proactive maintenance. Maximum power consumption is 1.5W.

The industrial temperature range of -45°C to +85°C makes this transceiver ideal for outdoor cabinet installations, remote cell tower equipment shelters, and distributed antenna systems in extreme climates. Standards compliance includes 25GBASE-ER, IEEE 802.3cc, and Class 1 FDA/IEC60825-1 laser safety certification. The module is CE marked and RoHS compliant.

Typical applications include outdoor regional 5G fronthaul connections, extended C-RAN deployments across challenging terrain, remote cell site connectivity in harsh environments, and industrial mobile network infrastructure requiring maximum reach with temperature resilience.

Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform comprehensive quality checks before delivery of our products. As a result, we conduct optical parameter measurements, connector cleanliness tests, and SFP28 transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests to ensure reliable operation in your mission-critical fronthaul network.
