453156-001 HPE Compatible 1000BASE-T Copper SFP Module

EdgeOptic's 453156-001 compatible is an HPE-coded RJ45 copper version of the EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-T multi-vendor 10/100/1000BASE-T copper SFP transceiver. It replaces the HP BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect 1Gb RJ45 SFP Module, which HPE also catalogs under option part number 453154-B21 and service spare part number 453578-001. All three numbers identify the same physical module, so an order placed against any of them resolves to this transceiver.

The module runs Gigabit Ethernet over unshielded twisted-pair copper to IEEE 802.3ab (1000BASE-T) and auto-negotiates 10/100/1000 Mbps, so it links at 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX rates as well. Reach is 100 m over Cat 5, Cat 5e, or Cat 6 cabling with a standard RJ45 connector. It operates from a +3.3 V supply across the commercial 0 to 70 C range and supports digital diagnostics monitoring. EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM with HPE-recognized identification so the transceiver is accepted by the host as a genuine HPE part.

The 453156-001 is built for HPE BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect infrastructure rather than general-purpose campus switching. It works in the HP 1/10GE-F Virtual Connect Module, the 10GE Pass-Thru Module for c-Class BladeSystem, the HPE 6120G/XG blade switch, and HPE BLc enclosures. For HPE ProCurve, ProVision, or Aruba CX switches outside the BladeSystem stack, a different HPE copper SFP applies, so verify the target chassis transceiver table before ordering.

In a BladeSystem c-Class deployment, this module gives a Virtual Connect uplink a copper Gigabit path to aggregation switches when the surrounding cabling plant is already structured copper. That is common in enclosures retrofitted into rooms wired for RJ45, where running new fiber to every uplink adds cost without changing the link speed. The 100 m reach over Cat 5e or Cat 6 covers the typical run from a blade enclosure to an in-row switch.
