HP compatible JD092A Description
EdgeOptic's 10G-SFP-300 compatible is an HPE-coded 10GBASE-SR SFP+ that replaces the JD092A in FlexNetwork and FlexFabric switch platforms. The JD prefix originates from H3C (Hangzhou H3C Technologies), a former Huawei/3Com joint venture later acquired by HP. HPE still uses the JD-series part numbering for switches that run H3C-derived firmware, including the 5130, 5940, 5950, and 12900 series. EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM with the correct H3C vendor OUI so these platforms accept the module without compatibility warnings. The JD092A is also referenced as the X130 10G SFP+ LC SR Transceiver in HPE's product catalogues. Optical parameters: 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, 10.3125 Gbps line rate, 6.1 dB link budget, 300 m over OM3 and 400 m over OM4 multimode fibre. The module conforms to IEEE 802.3ae for 10GBASE-SR. DDM/DOM telemetry is supported for real-time link monitoring.
The JD092A should not be confused with HPE's Aruba-branded modules (J9150A, J9150D) or the BladeSystem C-series part numbers (AP783A, 455883-B21). H3C-firmware switches validate the SFP+ vendor field against an H3C-specific allowlist, different from the ProCurve or Virtual Connect allowlists. Installing a J9150A in a 5130 switch, for example, can trigger a port-level vendor mismatch alert. The FlexNetwork 5130 and 5940 series are common deployment targets for the JD092A in campus and data centre access layer roles, while the 12900 series uses it for high-density 10GbE aggregation. The 10G-SFP-300 chipset supports multi-rate operation from 1.25 to 10.31 Gbps, covering 10GbE, GbE, and STM-64 applications depending on port configuration. DDM/DOM telemetry provides real-time monitoring of TX power, RX power, temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. LC duplex connector, 0 to 70 C operating range.
Every JD092A compatible is tested against current FlexNetwork firmware and validated against the H3C vendor OUI requirements. Quality checks include optical power measurement, connector inspection, and EEPROM data verification. The module is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431/SFF-8432). Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the JD092A have an H3C part prefix instead of a standard HPE part number?
HPE inherited the JD-prefix numbering from H3C, the former Huawei/3Com joint venture that HP acquired. Switches in the FlexNetwork and FlexFabric families (5130, 5940, 5950, 12900 series) still run firmware derived from the H3C codebase, and the SFP+ vendor validation on those platforms checks for an H3C-specific vendor OUI rather than an Aruba or ProCurve code.
Can a JD092A-coded module be used in an Aruba 5400R or 2930F switch?
No. Aruba-firmware switches (5400R, 2930F, 6300, CX series) validate against a different vendor allowlist and expect J9150A/J9150D-coded optics. Installing a JD092A-coded module in an Aruba switch may trigger a vendor mismatch warning. Use the correct EdgeOptic SKU coded for the target platform family.
What is the difference between JD092A and JD092B?
Both are HPE/H3C 10GBASE-SR SFP+ modules with identical optical specifications. The JD092B is a later revision with an updated CLEI code and revised EEPROM fields. Functionally they are interchangeable on the same FlexNetwork platforms. EdgeOptic's compatible is coded to match the JD092A vendor data.
