EdgeOptic's JL796A compatible is an HPE-coded 5m version of the EdgeOptic 100G-AOC-QSFP multi-vendor 100G QSFP28 active optical cable. It provides a point-to-point QSFP28-to-QSFP28 link for 100G Ethernet, with the optical fiber pre-terminated at both ends for 5m over OM3 multimode fiber. That suits HPE 100G data center and aggregation links where a sealed, lightweight optical run is preferred over copper or separate transceivers and patch fiber.
The cable runs at 850nm using VCSEL transmitters and PIN photodiode receivers, carrying 100G Ethernet at 103.125 Gbps. Integrated DDM/DOM reports optical power, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage through the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8636 and SFF-8665) management interface. It draws +3.3V at up to 3.5W and operates from 0 to 70°C.
