Juniper compatible QFX-SFP-1GE-T Description

EdgeOptic's QFX-SFP-1GE-T compatible is a Juniper-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-T multi-vendor tri-speed copper SFP. It carries the Juniper QFX-series part identity so a QFX switch reads it the same way it reads a factory module. This is the QFX-platform variant of the SKU and is distinct from the SFP-1GE-T part used on Juniper EX, SRX, and MX hardware. Order against the exact part number printed on the chassis transceiver table to avoid a mismatch between the two.

The module is a 1000BASE-T copper SFP built to IEEE 802.3ab. It auto-negotiates 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps and reaches 100 m over Cat 5, Cat 5e, or Cat 6 twisted-pair cable terminated in a standard RJ45 connector. Auto MDI/MDI-X removes the need for crossover cabling. The transceiver runs on a single +3.3 V supply and is rated for the commercial operating range of 0 to 70 °C. It conforms to the SFP MSA and the INF-8074i form-factor specification and carries CE and RoHS marking.

EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM with the Juniper QFX-SFP-1GE-T identity, so a QFX-series switch recognizes the module and reports it as a supported copper SFP. Juniper documents this part for the QFX series, with QFX5100 compatibility confirmed in the QFX5100 Hardware Guide. Before deployment on any other QFX model, confirm the part appears in that platform's transceiver compatibility table in the Juniper Hardware Compatibility Tool.

A copper SFP suits links where structured Cat 5e or Cat 6 cabling is already in place and a fiber run is not justified. Typical uses on QFX switches include in-rack server-to-switch connections, top-of-rack aggregation onto an RJ45 patch field, and management or out-of-band ports. The module connects directly to existing copper plant within the 100 m channel limit, so a port can be brought up without a separate media converter.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor networking platforms, this QFX-SFP-1GE-T compatible meets the SFP MSA, INF-8074i, CE, and RoHS requirements. It ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For volume pricing or QFX deployment questions, contact our sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the QFX-SFP-1GE-T go in any SFP port on a QFX5100 switch?

On current QFX5100 hardware there is no placement restriction. Older QFX5100 units carrying the legacy hardware part number SP7041-M1-JN have a known limitation in the QFX5100 Hardware Guide: a 1GbE copper transceiver should not sit directly above or below another copper transceiver, so use only the top or bottom port row on those units. If a chassis is several years old, check its hardware revision against the QFX5100 Hardware Guide before populating adjacent copper ports.
