Juniper SFP-1GE-T (740-038291) Compatible Copper SFP Module

EdgeOptic's SFP-1GE-T compatible is a Juniper-coded RJ45 copper version of the EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-T multi-vendor 10/100/1000BASE-T copper SFP transceiver. It replaces the Juniper SFP-1GE-T, ordering code 740-038291, a 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet copper module that Juniper's Hardware Compatibility Tool classifies as a GE SFP plug-in for use in M-series and MX-series routers.

The module carries Gigabit Ethernet over copper to IEEE 802.3ab (1000BASE-T) through a standard RJ45 connector, with a reach of 100 m over Cat 5e or Cat 6 unshielded twisted pair. It runs from a +3.3 V supply across the commercial 0 to 70 C range, which matches the operating class of the Juniper original. As an EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-T variant, the compatible auto-negotiates 10/100/1000 Mbps, so it also links at 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX rates.

EdgeOptic codes the transceiver EEPROM with Juniper-recognized identification so the host accepts it as a genuine 740-038291 part. The bare SFP-1GE-T ordering code is the variant intended for M-series and MX-series routers. Juniper also publishes platform-prefixed ordering codes for the same copper SFP hardware class: EX-SFP-1GE-T for EX-series switches, QFX-SFP-1GE-T for QFX-series switches, and SRX-SFP-1GE-T for SRX-series security appliances. Each prefix targets a specific Juniper product family, so confirm the ordering code against the chassis transceiver table before deployment.
