Juniper compatible SRX-SFP-10GE-SR Description
EdgeOptic's SRX-SFP-10GE-SR compatible is a Juniper-coded 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver for the SRX service-gateway platform. The part uses Juniper's older SFP-10GE naming pattern rather than the newer SFPP-10G scheme, and targets the high-end SRX firewall range: SRX 1400, SRX 3400, SRX 3600, SRX 5400, SRX 5600 and SRX 5800 chassis fitted with Service Processing Cards (SPC) or I/O Cards (IOC) that carry SFP+ 10GbE host interfaces. Operating range is 0 to 70 degrees Celsius (commercial), which distinguishes this SKU from the extended-temperature SRX-SFPP-10G-SR-ET variant used in cabinets with wider ambient ranges.
The optical stage is a full 10GBASE-SR part per IEEE 802.3ae Clause 52, running at 10.3125 Gbps line rate with an 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, an 850 nm PIN photodiode receiver, and a 6.1 dB link budget. Reach over duplex LC multimode fiber is 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4, with approximately 82 m on OM2 and 33 m on OM1 for legacy multimode plants. Mechanical envelope is the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8432) with SFF-8472 digital diagnostics exposing TX power, RX power, laser bias current, supply voltage and case temperature. On Junos the diagnostic page is readable through 'show interfaces diagnostics optics' on the SRX 10GbE host interface, so link margins appear under the same Junos view as a factory Juniper optic.
EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM with Juniper SRX identifiers so Junos on the SRX service gateway registers the module as a native SRX-SFP-10GE-SR at port bring-up, without raising a non-qualified-optic event on the SPC or IOC logs. The SRX-SFP prefix targets the 1400 through 5800 SRX chassis range; the branch SRX100 and SRX200 series firewalls use a different pluggable class and are out of scope for this part. The module conforms to the SFP+ MSA and is CE/RoHS certified. For mixed SFP-10GE / SFPP-10G planning across an SRX 3600 or SRX 5800 data-center firewall refresh, for IOC capacity guidance on a high-port design, or for bulk pricing on a distributed SRX fleet, please contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which SRX firewall models accept SRX-SFP-10GE-SR?
SRX 1400, SRX 3400, SRX 3600, SRX 5400, SRX 5600 and SRX 5800 service-gateway chassis fitted with SPC or IOC modules that carry SFP+ 10GbE host interfaces. The branch SRX100 and SRX200 series firewalls use a different pluggable class and are not in scope for this SKU.
How does SRX-SFP-10GE-SR differ from SRX-SFPP-10G-SR-ET?
The older SFP-10GE naming applies to the standard commercial 0 to 70 degrees Celsius optic, while SRX-SFPP-10G-SR-ET is the newer-naming extended-temperature variant rated for -40 to +85 degrees Celsius case range. Optical performance (10.3125 Gbps, 300 m OM3, 4.6 dB budget) is identical.
Does Junos report SRX-SFP-10GE-SR as a native Juniper optic?
Yes. EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM with Juniper SRX identifiers so the SPC or IOC module registers the part under the expected Juniper PID at port bring-up, and the SFF-8472 diagnostic page is visible through 'show interfaces diagnostics optics' on the 10GbE host interface.
