10G Fronthaul SFP+ 40km 1310nm Industrial Transceiver Description

Our EDGEOPTIC 10GFH-SFP-41I is a multi-vendor compatible 10G Fronthaul SFP+ dual-fiber optical module designed for mobile network infrastructure supporting CPRI and OBSAI protocol standards over long distances in harsh environmental conditions. The 10GFH-SFP-41I module operates at 1310nm wavelength for both transmission and reception, with data rates from 1.228 to 10.138 Gbps covering the full range of fronthaul interface requirements. This industrial-grade transceiver provides reliable long-haul connectivity between baseband units and remote radio heads in 4G LTE and 5G network deployments requiring extended reach, 1310nm wavelength operation, and extreme temperature resilience.

Our 10G Fronthaul 40km 1310nm Industrial SFP+ transceiver utilizes DFB (Distributed Feedback) laser technology for transmission and PIN photodiode for receiving. The module ensures a 14 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance. Over single-mode fiber, the transceiver can reach distances up to 40 kilometers, providing an alternative to 1550nm solutions where existing infrastructure or dispersion considerations favor 1310nm operation in challenging environments. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry.

The industrial temperature rating of -45°C to +85°C makes this transceiver ideal for outdoor cabinet installations, remote radio head locations exposed to environmental extremes, and deployments in regions with significant temperature variations. All optical and electrical parameters are guaranteed across the full extended temperature range, ensuring consistent fronthaul link performance regardless of ambient conditions.

The 10GFH-SFP-41I supports comprehensive fronthaul protocol coverage including CPRI options 2 through 8, ranging from 1228.8 Mbps to 10.138 Gbps. Additionally, the module supports OBSAI RP3 configurations at 1.536 Gbps, 3.072 Gbps, and 6.144 Gbps rates. This multi-rate capability ensures compatibility with diverse radio access network architectures and equipment generations from major RAN vendors worldwide.

The 10GFH-SFP-41I compatible 10G Fronthaul Industrial module is a hot-pluggable SFP+ with duplex LC/UPC connectors as an optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP+ host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 10G Fronthaul 40km 1310nm Industrial SFP+ transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different baseband unit and remote radio head platforms across the telecommunications industry.

The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible EEPROM interface and enables monitoring of transceiver operational parameters critical for maintaining fronthaul link integrity in challenging environments over extended distances.

Standards compliance includes SFF-8431 for mechanical and electrical specifications, along with Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 laser safety requirements. The transceiver achieves multi-vendor interoperability through adherence to industry MSA standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for compatibility. Our 10G Fronthaul 40km 1310nm Industrial SFP+ transceiver is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with product safety standards.

Typical applications include outdoor C-RAN fronthaul connections over regional distances, remote radio head installations in extreme climates where 1310nm wavelength is preferred for compatibility with existing optical plant or reduced chromatic dispersion, and carrier-class mobile network infrastructure demanding both extended reach and industrial-grade environmental resilience. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform serious quality checks before delivery of our products. As a result, we do optical parameter measurements, connector cleanness tests, and SFP+ transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests.
