Our EDGEOPTIC DWDM-10GFH-SFP-40I is a multi-vendor compatible 10G Fronthaul DWDM SFP+ dual-fiber optical module designed for mobile network infrastructure supporting CPRI and OBSAI protocol standards with dense wavelength division multiplexing capability in harsh environmental conditions. The DWDM-10GFH-SFP-40I module is available across 45 DWDM channels (ITU channels 17-61) in the C-band with 100GHz spacing according to the ITU-T G.694.1 wavelength grid. With data rates from 1.228 to 10.138 Gbps, this industrial-grade transceiver enables maximum-density wavelength multiplexed fronthaul connectivity between baseband units and remote radio heads in 4G LTE and 5G network deployments requiring both high channel count and extreme temperature operation.

Our 10G Fronthaul DWDM 40km Industrial SFP+ transceiver utilizes EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and PIN photodiode for receiving. The EML transmitter provides the narrow spectral width required for DWDM applications with tight channel spacing. The module ensures a 14 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance. Over single-mode fiber, the transceiver can reach distances up to 40 kilometers when deployed with appropriate DWDM multiplexing equipment. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry, including insertion losses from DWDM mux/demux devices.

DWDM technology allows maximum-density wavelength multiplexing with 0.8nm (100GHz) channel spacing, enabling up to 45 independent 10G connections over existing two-fiber infrastructure in the C-band alone. This represents significantly higher channel density compared to CWDM solutions, making it ideal for scenarios where fiber availability is extremely limited.
