Our EDGEOPTIC BIDI-10GFH-SFP-80AI is a multi-vendor compatible 10G Fronthaul BiDi SFP+ single-fiber optical module designed for mobile network infrastructure supporting CPRI and OBSAI protocol standards over ultra-long distances in harsh environmental conditions. The BIDI-10GFH-SFP-80AI module operates using wavelength division multiplexing technology, transmitting at 1490nm and receiving at 1550nm over a single fiber strand. With data rates from 1.228 to 10.138 Gbps, this industrial-grade transceiver provides fiber-efficient maximum-reach connectivity between baseband units and remote radio heads in 4G LTE and 5G network deployments where fiber pair availability is limited and extreme temperature operation is required.
Our 10G Fronthaul BiDi 80km Industrial SFP+ transceiver utilizes EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for receiving. This high-performance optical component combination enables the module to ensure a 23 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance. Over single-mode fiber, the transceiver can reach distances up to 80 kilometers while using only one fiber strand instead of the traditional two-fiber approach. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry.
The BIDI-10GFH-SFP-80AI must be deployed in pairs with its complementary module BIDI-10GFH-SFP-80BI at the opposite end of the link. The Side A module transmits at 1490nm and receives at 1550nm, while Side B transmits at 1550nm and receives at 1490nm, enabling full-duplex communication over a single fiber.
