Netgear compatible AXM761 Description

EdgeOptic's AXM761 compatible is a Netgear-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver, supplied for Netgear ProSAFE managed switches with SFP+ uplink ports. Netgear-recognized EEPROM lets the optic register cleanly on the switch's transceiver inventory, so the platform accepts the module as the OEM AXM761 form without prompting an unrecognized-transceiver alert. AXM761 is Netgear's standard 10GBASE-SR ordering code; AXM761-10000S is the same module sold in a single-pack retail carton.

850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, multi-mode duplex LC. Reach is up to 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 multi-mode fiber, with 33 m on legacy OM1 per the IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR specification. TX output power runs −5 to 0 dBm, receiver sensitivity −11.1 dBm, link budget 6.1 dB. DDM/DOM supported via SFF-8472 for live link diagnostics. Compliance: SFF-8431, SFP MSA, IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR, RoHS, IEC60825-1 Class 1 laser safety. Operating range 0 to 70°C commercial.

Netgear's product page for AXM761 lists the module as the standard 10GBASE-SR SFP+ for the ProSAFE M4300 and M4500 managed switch families, with SFP+ uplink ports on M4300-24X, M4300-48X, M4300-96X, M4500-32C and similar models. The same AXM761 form is the supported 10GBASE-SR SFP+ across the broader Netgear managed switch portfolio with 10G SFP+ cages. Verify the specific switch model against Netgear's transceiver compatibility listing before deployment.

Within the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor platform, the same physical SFP+ hardware ships under more than 80 vendor codes covering 10G Ethernet, 1G Ethernet fallback, and the 1G to 10G Fibre Channel rate range. For Netgear ProSAFE deployments AXM761 is the Netgear-coded form; for other host vendors the equivalent EdgeOptic optic ships coded for that vendor's EEPROM identifier.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty included. For ProSAFE switch model compatibility checks, AXM761 vs AXM764 fiber-type disambiguation, or bulk ordering, contact our sales team.

AXM761 FAQ

Are AXM761 and AXM764 interchangeable for the same Netgear switch port?

No. AXM761 is a 10GBASE-SR SFP+ at 850 nm over multi-mode fiber, with 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4. AXM764 is a 10GBASE-LR Lite SFP+ at 1310 nm over single-mode fiber, with up to 2 km reach. The two modules use different fiber types and different optical wavelengths, so they are not interchangeable: an AXM761 will not link over single-mode fiber and an AXM764 will not link over multi-mode fiber. Match the SFP+ part number to the installed fiber type before ordering.
