Palo Alto Networks compatible PAN-T-S-PLUS-SR Description
PAN-T-S-PLUS-SR is Palo Alto Networks' TAA-designated (OEM) (Trade Agreements Act) variant of the PAN-SFP-PLUS-SR 10GBASE-SR SFP+. The "T" prefix in Palo Alto's naming convention indicates TAA compliance, required for U.S. federal government and certain regulated procurement channels. Optically and functionally, the module is identical to the non-TAA PAN-SFP-PLUS-SR. It populates SFP+ slots on PA-3200 Series, PA-5200 Series, and PA-7000 Series firewall platforms.
EdgeOptic's compatible version is built on the 10G-SFP-300 platform with Palo Alto-specific EEPROM coding. The 850 nm VCSEL transmitter and PIN photodiode receiver deliver a minimum 6.1 dB link budget per IEEE 802.3ae, supporting 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 multimode fiber. DDM/DOM monitoring reports Tx/Rx power, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current. PAN-OS reads the module diagnostics through standard SFP+ register addresses.
Data rate range is 1.25 to 10.3125 Gbps, covering 10GbE and 1GbE line rates depending on port configuration. Connector is duplex LC/UPC. The SFP+ follows SFF-8431/SFF-8432 MSA requirements. Operating range is 0 to 70 °C. CE and RoHS certified. PA-400 Series models with SFP-only (1G) ports do not accept SFP+ modules.
PAN-OS platform acceptance is confirmed before shipping. For TAA documentation, volume pricing, or PA-Series compatibility questions, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the "T" prefix mean in PAN-T-S-PLUS-SR?
The "T" indicates TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliance. Palo Alto uses this prefix across its TAA-designated optics and hardware. The module is optically identical to the non-TAA PAN-SFP-PLUS-SR but carries the TAA designation for U.S. federal procurement requirements.
Can the PAN-T-S-PLUS-SR and PAN-SFP-PLUS-SR be mixed in the same PA-5200 chassis?
Yes. Both modules have the same optical parameters and PAN-OS handles them identically. Mixing TAA and non-TAA optics in the same chassis has no technical impact. The distinction is purely a procurement and compliance designation.
