Qlogic compatible FTLX8574D3BCL-QL Description

FTLX8574D3BCL-QL is a QLogic-branded variant of the Finisar FTLX8574D3BCL, a 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver designed for QLogic host bus adapters and converged network adapters. Unlike the base FTLX8574D3BCL (Finisar-coded) or the -1T suffix (a different OEM re-label), the -QL carries QLogic-specific EEPROM vendor data. EdgeOptic's compatible replicates that QLogic coding so the adapter firmware accepts it without modification.

One important distinction: the FTLX8574D3BCL family is a 10G-only part. It does not support dual-rate 1G/10G operation the way some other SR SFP+ modules do. If a QLogic port is configured for 10GbE, this module operates at 10.3125 Gbps per IEEE 802.3ae. The chipset rate range on EdgeOptic's 10G-SFP-300 platform is 1.25 to 10.3125 Gbps, but the FTLX8574D3BCL EEPROM profile advertises 10G-only capability to the host adapter.

Transmitter is an 850 nm VCSEL; receiver is a PIN photodiode. Minimum optical budget of 6.1 dB provides 300 m reach on OM3 multimode fiber and 400 m on OM4. LC/UPC duplex connector, 0 to 70 °C commercial temperature range. DDM reports Tx/Rx power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage via the standard I2C diagnostic interface. QLogic HBAs such as the QLE2690 and QLE2692 series read DDM data through the host driver and present it in management tools.

CE and RoHS certified. Fully compliant with SFP+ MSA SFF-8432 standards. QLogic adapter compatibility testing is performed on current QLE2690 and QLE2692 HBA firmware. QLogic HBA EEPROM acceptance is verified before shipping. Fibre Channel SAN environments that rely on QLogic adapters are the primary deployment target for this SKU. Frequently Asked Questions

How does the FTLX8574D3BCL-QL differ from the base FTLX8574D3BCL and the -1T variant?

All three share the same optical specifications (850 nm, 10GBASE-SR, 300 m OM3). The base FTLX8574D3BCL carries Finisar vendor coding. The -1T is a different OEM re-label with its own vendor ID. The -QL has QLogic-specific EEPROM data, required for QLogic HBAs and CNAs that validate the transceiver vendor field at initialization. Mixing suffixes on a QLogic adapter may trigger an unsupported optic warning.
