Our EDGEOPTIC DWDM-100G-Q28-120 is a multi-vendor compatible 100G DWDM QSFP28 optical module designed for 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications operating over amplified single-mode fiber infrastructure. This quad small form-factor pluggable transceiver utilizes advanced PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4-level) encoding with C-Band DWDM wavelength operation, delivering 103.125 Gbps throughput for long-haul metro and regional DWDM network deployments.
The DWDM-100G-Q28-120 module operates using C-Band DWDM technology supporting ITU-T grid channels 21 through 60 (40 channels) with 100GHz spacing. Our 100G DWDM QSFP28 transceiver utilizes EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) for transmission and PIN photodiode for receiving, with integrated CDR (Clock and Data Recovery) circuitry to maintain signal integrity at PAM4 data rates. The DWDM wavelength compatibility enables integration with existing C-Band optical transport infrastructure and wavelength multiplexing systems.
Transceiver ensures a 7 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance in conjunction with optical amplification. Over standard single-mode fiber with EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier) and DCM (Dispersion Compensation Module), the transceiver can reach distances up to 80 kilometers. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget, amplifier gain, and dispersion characteristics of the optical cabling infrastructure. The DWDM design enables high-capacity wavelength multiplexing for maximum fiber utilization.
DWDM-100G-Q28-120 compatible 100G DWDM module is a hot-pluggable QSFP28 with dual LC/UPC connectors as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to IEEE 802.3cu, 100G Lambda MSA, and SFF-8636/SFF-8679 specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard QSFP28 host systems supporting CAUI-4 interface. Our 100G DWDM QSFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment.
The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. The module features integrated FEC (Forward Error Correction) within the DSP, which is essential for PAM4 modulation to detect and correct bit errors, ensuring reliable transmission across extended amplified links. The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range with maximum power consumption of 4.5W.
Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3cu, 100G Lambda MSA, CAUI-4, and SFF-8636/SFF-8679 specifications. Our 100G DWDM QSFP28 transceiver is CE/RoHS certified.
