100BASE-FX SFP Compatible Transceiver: 155M-SFP-2D

Our EDGEOPTIC 155M-SFP-2D is a multi-vendor compatible 100BASE-FX SFP dual-fiber optical module designed for Fast Ethernet and OC-3/STM-1 applications operating over multimode fiber cabling. The 155M-SFP-2D module operates at 1310nm wavelength for transmission and reception, with data rates from 0.1 to 0.155 Gbps and supports multiple protocol standards and applications. Our 100BASE-FX SFP transceiver utilizes FP (Fabry-Perot) laser for transmission and PIN photodiode for receiving. Transceiver ensures an 11 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance. Over multimode fiber, the transceiver can reach distances up to 2 kilometers, providing reliable connectivity for campus and enterprise network deployments. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry.

155M-SFP-2D compatible 100BASE-FX module is hot-pluggable SFP with duplex LC/UPC connectors as an optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to INF-8074i MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 100BASE-FX SFP transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment. The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible EEPROM interface and enables monitoring of transceiver operational parameters. The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range, with appropriate thermal considerations for sustained operation in controlled network environments.

Standards compliance includes 100BASE-FX for Fast Ethernet, along with SDH/SONET support for STM-1 (155Mbps) applications. The transceiver achieves multi-vendor interoperability through adherence to industry MSA standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for compatibility. Our 100BASE-FX SFP transceiver is CE/RoHS certified, and it is compliant with Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 laser safety standards.

Typical applications are Fast Ethernet backbone connections, legacy system integrations, OC-3/STM-1 telecommunications links, and industrial control networks. The dual-rate capability supporting both 100Mbps Ethernet and 155Mbps SONET/SDH provides operational flexibility for converged data and telecom infrastructures.
