TP-LINK compatible SFP-T Description
EdgeOptic's SFP-T compatible is a TP-Link-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-T multi-vendor tri-speed copper SFP. It carries the TP-Link part identity so a switch reads it the same way it reads the original module. TP-Link uses two names for the same part: SFP-T is the SFP product code, and TL-SM331T is the Omada catalog number. Both refer to the identical 1000BASE-T copper module.
The module is a 1000BASE-T copper SFP built to IEEE 802.3ab. It auto-negotiates 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps and reaches 100 m over Cat 5e or higher twisted-pair cable terminated in a standard RJ45 connector. Auto MDI/MDI-X removes the need for crossover cabling. Digital diagnostics monitoring is supported, and the module is hot-swappable. It runs on a single +3.3 V supply and is rated for the commercial operating range of 0 to 70 °C. The transceiver conforms to the SFP MSA and the INF-8074i form-factor specification and carries CE and RoHS marking.
EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM with the TP-Link SFP-T identity, so TP-Link switches and access points with SFP slots recognize the module and report it as the original copper SFP. TP-Link placed the original TL-SM331T on End of Life in July 2024, with no designated replacement model. The EdgeOptic compatible remains in production and in stock. Before deployment, confirm the SFP slot supports a 1000BASE-T copper module on the host in use.
A copper SFP fits links where structured Cat 5e or Cat 6 cabling already serves the equipment and a fiber run is not justified. In TP-Link networks this commonly means small-business and SMB switch uplinks, server-to-switch connections inside a rack, and management ports. The module terminates directly on existing in-building copper plant within the 100 m channel limit, so a port can be brought up without adding a separate media converter.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor networking platforms, this SFP-T compatible meets the SFP MSA, INF-8074i, CE, and RoHS requirements. It ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For volume pricing or an EOL replacement plan, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the TP-Link SFP-T (TL-SM331T) still available?
TP-Link placed the original TL-SM331T (SFP-T) on End of Life in July 2024, with no designated replacement model named by TP-Link. The EdgeOptic SFP-T compatible covers the same 1000BASE-T copper specification and remains in production, available from EU stock for networks that still need the part.
