TRENDnet compatible TEG-10GBSR Description

EdgeOptic's TEG-10GBSR compatible is a TRENDnet-coded 10GBASE-SR version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor SFP+ transceiver. The module is built to IEEE 802.3ae Clause 52 and runs at 10.3125 Gbps over duplex multimode fiber, with TRENDnet-recognized EEPROM so TEG-series 10G switches accept the optic without third-party-transceiver warnings. Form factor is SFP+ per SFF-8431, compatible with the SFP MSA host connector on every TRENDnet 10G access and aggregation switch slot.

Optical specifications match the current v3 TEG-10GBSR hardware. 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, transmit power −5 to 0 dBm, receive sensitivity −11.1 dBm, average link budget 6.1 dB. Reach is 300 m over OM3 multimode fiber and 400 m over OM4 with a duplex LC connector. Standard 0 to 70°C commercial operating temperature range. Digital diagnostics monitoring per SFF-8472 reports temperature, supply voltage, TX bias current, transmit power, and receive power on every read, and the optic is hot-pluggable so the link can be moved or replaced without taking the switch offline.

The TEG-10GBSR is ordered for TRENDnet 10G managed switches with SFP+ uplinks, including the TEG-30284 28-port 10G aggregation switch per TRENDnet's product documentation. Verify the specific switch model, hardware revision, and firmware release against TRENDnet's transceiver compatibility documentation before deployment, particularly for legacy chassis where the original TEG-10GBSR v2 hardware revision shipped with a longer reach rating that does not apply to the current v3 module. The module supports the same multi-rate envelope as the underlying EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 transceiver, from 1.25 to 11.32 Gbps, covering 1G and 10G Ethernet on the qualified TRENDnet platforms.
