Can OADM drop port as well add?

  • In short: Yes, it can!
  • If the corresponding wavelength is injected into the drop port, then it is added to the signal. OADM can work from both sides. There is no essential difference between Add and Drop. Directions of light are reversible. For example, if we take a look at the scheme from the EDGE Optics product… Then we see that any arrow direction can be reversed, and everything will work. It is a matter of equipment labelling.

Passive DWDM Dual Fiber Optical Multiplexers

Double fiber DWDM multiplexers support ultra-high channel density over a single fiber pair using ITU-T G.694.1 wavelengths. C-Band options deliver up to 80 channels with 50 GHz spacing or up to 40 channels at 100 GHz spacing.
