50G SFP56 Transceivers

50G SFP56 (Small Form-Factor Pluggable 56) optical transceivers are taking shape into the industry chain of SFP56. SFP56 transceivers deliver double the data rate of SFP28 transceivers in the same form factor and therefore dramatically reduces the cost per bit. EDGE Optics compatible SFP56 transceiver portfolio consists of transceivers which can operate over Single Mode or Multi Mode optical fiber. We provide our users with Multi Mode transceivers that can be used for connections up to 100 meters and Single Mode transceivers for connections up to 40 kilometers and are supported by IEEE 802.3cd and 26.5625GBd PAM4 Ethernet Applications.  Our SFP56 transceiver portfolio is fully compliant to industry standards and can work in 80% of networking equipment, where is not implemented special algorithm for protection against third party modules. However – we have accumulated deep expertise in custom-encoded firmware for our 50G SFP56 portfolio in order to make it work in almost any brand of equipment. SFP56 technology is available today as an approach to double the data rates of the existing SFP28 links.

50G SFP56 Optical Transceivers

50G Ethernet SFP56 Transceivers are designed for PAM4 Ethernet Applications using fixed 53.125Gbps data rate, comprehending 50G SR4, LR4 and ER4 which are defined by IEEE802.3cd. Below transceivers work at 50G data rate and only in ports that are 50G-capable. Our short reach modules include connections up to 100 meters and long reach modules that are capable of connections up to 40 kilometers.

Frequently Asked Questions about 50G SFP56

What is the difference between SFP28 vs SFP56 form factors?

Both SFP56 vs SFP28 have the same form factor. The difference is that SFP28 is capable of connections up to 25Gbps and SFP56 is capable up to 53Gbps.

How does SFP56 differ from SFP+?

SFP56 vs SFP+ both have the same form factor, only SFP+ delivers 10Gbps data rate and SFP56 delivers 50Gbps over the same form factor.

What are the main differences between SFP56 vs SFP-DD?

SFP-DD is capable of transmitting 50Gbps over 2 channels providing an overall signaling rate of 100G, whereas SFP56 is capable of providing only 50Gbps.

Is SFP56 backwards compatible?

SFP56 is backwards compatible with previous form factors such as SFP+ and SFP28.
