25G CWDM SFP28 15km Industrial Transceiver Description
Our EDGEOPTIC CWDM-25G-SFP28-15I is a multi-vendor compatible industrial-grade 25G CWDM SFP28 dual-fiber optical module designed for wavelength division multiplexed 25 Gigabit Ethernet applications in harsh environmental conditions. The CWDM-25G-SFP28-15I module supports transmission across 8 CWDM channels from 1470nm to 1610nm with 20nm channel spacing, with data rates from 8.5 to 28.1 Gbps supporting multiple protocol standards and applications. Our industrial 25G CWDM SFP28 transceiver utilizes EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for receiving, engineered specifically for wavelength division multiplexing in extreme temperature environments.
The transceiver ensures a 14 dB guaranteed optical link budget with host-based Forward Error Correction (FEC) support, which determines the maximum transmission distance capabilities. Over standard single-mode fiber (SMF), the module achieves reliable transmission up to 15 kilometers, making it ideal for outdoor CWDM networks, industrial campus deployments, and harsh environment applications requiring wavelength multiplexing. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for convenience of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry standards. The robust CWDM architecture enables up to 8 channels of 25G traffic over a single fiber pair while maintaining performance across extreme temperature variations.
CWDM-25G-SFP28-15I compatible industrial wavelength-specific module is hot-pluggable SFP28 with duplex LC/UPC connectors as an optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431, SFF-8432, and SFF-8472 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP28 host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our industrial 25G CWDM SFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment. The module incorporates comprehensive DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible EEPROM interface, enabling continuous monitoring of wavelength-specific channel performance across extreme temperature variations.
The module operates within an extended industrial temperature range of -45°C to +85°C, with maximum power consumption of 1.2W, specifically designed for deployment in uncontrolled environments including outdoor cabinets, remote cell sites, industrial facilities, and transportation infrastructure. The enhanced thermal design ensures stable EML laser operation from 0 to 5 dBm with minimum extinction ratio of 3.5 dB across all 8 supported CWDM channels from 1470nm to 1610nm. The APD photodiode receiver delivers enhanced sensitivity of -14 dBm with wide-band reception capability spanning the entire CWDM grid from 1270nm to 1610nm, providing flexibility for receiving any CWDM channel while maintaining performance at temperature extremes. Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3cc specifications for 25 Gigabit Ethernet, supporting both 10G Ethernet (10.31 Gbps) and 25G Ethernet (25.78 Gbps) applications.
Our industrial 25G CWDM SFP28 transceiver is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 laser safety standards. Typical applications include outdoor metro access networks, industrial CWDM systems, smart city infrastructure, railway communications, and utility networks requiring wavelength multiplexing in harsh conditions. The combination of CWDM technology and industrial hardening enables operators to deploy up to 8 independent 25G channels over existing fiber infrastructure in extreme environments, providing 200 Gbps aggregate capacity per fiber pair. The multi-rate capability accommodates legacy 10 Gigabit Ethernet operation alongside native 25 Gigabit rates, providing operational flexibility for mixed-speed network deployments. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform extensive environmental testing including thermal cycling across all CWDM channels, vibration resistance, humidity exposure tests, wavelength stability verification, in addition to optical parameter measurements, connector cleanliness tests, and SFP28 transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests.
