HPE J8177C Compatible Gigabit 1000BASE-T SFP RJ45 Transceiver

EdgeOptic's J8177C compatible is an HPE-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-M multi-vendor 1000BASE-T SFP transceiver, sold by HPE as the X121 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceiver. It runs 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet over Cat5/5e twisted-pair cabling to 100 meters through an RJ45 connector, matching the fixed Gigabit design of the underlying 1000M-SFP-M hardware. HPE support document c01575022 states the ProCurve Gigabit 1000Base-T Mini-GBIC, HPE's original name for the J8177C, is capable of 100-Megabit operation on the OEM part. HPE's AOS-S and AOS-CX Transceiver Guide notes this transceiver is not supported in the Dual-Personality ports of the 2920 Series Switches and is for use only in the J9731A module; consult the guide for the per-platform 100 Mbps and 1G support matrix. EdgeOptic's compatible does not replicate that OEM-side 100 Mbps mode. It operates as a fixed Gigabit 1000BASE-T module only. DDM/DOM telemetry on the module reports temperature and supply voltage, giving visibility into module health without the optical Tx/Rx power readings used on fiber transceivers. Operating temperature is 0 to 70 C at +3.3V, and the module carries CE, RoHS and SFP MSA (INF-8074i) compliance. The module hot swaps into a standard SFP cage sized to the SFP MSA envelope.
