Six-Channel BiDi CCWDM Mux/Demux, Configurable Build

This configurable BiDi CCWDM mux/demux unit covers 6 data streams across 12 optical channels on the 1391 to 1611nm CCWDM grid at 20nm channel spacing. A single product listing covers six orderable combinations: mini-LGX, LGX, or 19 inch 1U rack housing, each available with or without a 1310nm monitor port. Optical performance is identical across every combination, with 1.7dB passband insertion loss, 30dB adjacent channel isolation, 45dB non-adjacent channel isolation, and LC/UPC duplex connectors rated for operation from -5 to 70 degrees Celsius. Housing and monitor port selection are the only differences between the six SKUs.

Configurable 6-Channel Single Fiber CCWDM Mux/Demux Description

This page represents six orderable SKUs built from a single BiDi CCWDM mux/demux platform. Instead of browsing six separate part numbers, the housing type and 1310nm monitor port are selected here: mini-LGX, LGX, or 19 inch 1U rack, with or without the monitor port. The wavelength plan and optical specification stay the same across every combination. Only the mechanical housing and the monitor tap change.

The module multiplexes and demultiplexes 6 data streams across 12 optical channels on the CCWDM grid from 1391 to 1611nm at 20nm channel spacing, per ITU-T G.694.2. Passband is plus or minus 7.5nm with 1.7dB insertion loss and 0.5dB passband ripple. Adjacent channel isolation is 30dB, non adjacent channel isolation is 45dB, directivity is 50dB and return loss is 45dB. Polarization dependent loss is 0.1dB and polarization mode dispersion is 0.1ps, with up to 500mW of optical power handling.

Insertion loss drifts by only 0.003dB per degree Celsius and the wavelength grid shifts by 0.002nm per degree Celsius, so channel performance holds steady across the operating temperature range of minus 5 to 70 degrees Celsius, with storage from minus 40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Every configuration uses LC/UPC duplex connectors and is built for indoor protected environments. The unit carries CE and RoHS marks and follows the ITU-T G.694.2 CWDM wavelength grid.

Because all six configurator combinations share the same optical performance, the housing and monitor port choice is a mechanical decision, not a performance tradeoff. This module ships as a special order build. For a specific combination or bulk configuration guidance, contact our sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does CCWDM mean, and how is it different from standard CWDM?

CCWDM stands for Compact CWDM. It follows the same 20nm ITU-T G.694.2 wavelength grid as standard CWDM, packaged in a more compact housing.

When should the 1310nm window port option be selected on this configurator?

The 1310nm window port is a configurator option that adds a tap point for measuring the optical signal, for example with a power meter, without breaking the live link. It is typically added when planned commissioning or troubleshooting calls for checking signal levels without disconnecting fiber. Leaving it off keeps the housing at its base configuration.

Which housing option fits best: mini-LGX, LGX, or the 19 inch 1U rack?

Housing choice changes the mechanical mounting only, optical performance is identical across all three options. Mini-LGX is a compact standalone module. LGX is a cassette that slots into a 1U rack panel alongside other LGX modules, useful for hybrid panel builds that mix multiple passive components in one slot. The 19 inch 1U rack option is a standalone rack mount chassis for direct installation without a separate panel.

What does 20nm channel spacing on the CWDM grid mean?

ITU-T G.694.2 defines the CWDM wavelength grid with a nominal central wavelength spacing of no less than 20nm between channels. This unit follows that grid across its 12 optical channels, spanning 1391nm to 1611nm - the upper 12 channel centers of the standard's 18-channel grid.

Does this module use LC/UPC or LC/APC connectors?

This module uses LC/UPC duplex connectors, not LC/APC. Matching the existing patch cords and jumpers to the same UPC polish, blue rather than the green APC polish, avoids the return loss degradation that mixing polish types can introduce in a passive optical link.
