EdgeOptic's GLC-BX-U compatible is a Cisco-coded version of the EdgeOptic BIDI-1.25G-SFP-21-AD multi-vendor 1000BASE-BX-U BiDi SFP transceiver. Cisco publishes GLC-BX-U as the upstream half of its BX single-fiber pair for point-to-point Gigabit Ethernet over one strand of fiber.
The compatible transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1490 nm over a single strand of single-mode fiber, at 1.063 to 1.25 Gbps, and must pair with a Cisco GLC-BX-D unit at the far end; two GLC-BX-U modules cannot link to each other. Cisco rates the OEM GLC-BX-U at approximately 10 km, BX10 reach class.
