400G OSFP to 2x200G QSFP56 Passive DAC (1-3m) Description

Our EDGEOPTIC 400G-PDAC-OSFP-2xQSFP56 is a multi-vendor compatible 400G OSFP passive direct attach copper breakout cable designed for high-performance 400 Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand HDR applications in modern data center environments. The cable features a breakout configuration with an OSFP connector on one end and two QSFP56 connectors on the other, enabling efficient 400G to 2×200G connectivity for high-density networking architectures, including spine-leaf deployments and HPC clusters.

The cable supports multi-rate operation from 106.25 to 425 Gbps, allowing a single 400G OSFP port to be split into two independent 200G links. It supports 400G Ethernet operation at up to 425 Gbps on the OSFP side and 200G Ethernet or InfiniBand HDR at 106.25 Gbps per lane on each QSFP56 branch. This enables flexible bandwidth allocation across switching and compute platforms while maintaining high throughput and port efficiency.

As a passive DAC solution, the 400G-PDAC-OSFP-2xQSFP56 requires no external power and introduces near-zero latency, making it suitable for short-reach interconnects in latency-sensitive environments. The cable is designed for distances up to 3 meters and utilizes 26 AWG twinax copper construction to ensure reliable signal integrity and stable high-speed PAM4 transmission. The construction balances electrical performance with cable flexibility for practical deployment in dense rack environments.

The electrical interface conforms to OSFP and QSFP56 MSA specifications, ensuring interoperability with a wide range of networking equipment. The cable supports DDM/DOM functionality, enabling monitoring of key operational parameters such as temperature and voltage for improved visibility and management.

Designed for operation within a standard temperature range of 0 to 70°C, the cable is suited for controlled data center conditions. With an MTBF rating of 1,000,000 hours, it provides dependable long-term performance for critical infrastructure. Typical use cases include 400G to 200G breakout connections between switches, high-bandwidth server connectivity, and scalable deployments in cloud, AI, and high-performance computing environments.
