400G OSFP to 4x100G QSFP56 Passive DAC (1-2m) Description
Our EDGEOPTIC 400G-PDAC-OSFP-4xQSFP56 is a multi-vendor compatible 400G OSFP passive direct attach copper breakout cable designed for ultra-high-performance 400 Gigabit Ethernet applications in next-generation data center environments. The cable features a breakout configuration with an OSFP (Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable) connector on one end and four QSFP56 connectors on the other, enabling efficient 400G to 4×100G connectivity for high-density spine-leaf architectures, hyperscale networks, and AI/ML infrastructure.
The cable supports multi-rate operation from 106.25 to 425 Gbps, allowing a single 400G OSFP port to be split into four independent 100G Ethernet links. It supports 400G Ethernet operation at 425 Gbps on the OSFP side and 100G Ethernet at 106.25 Gbps per QSFP56 branch, providing flexible bandwidth distribution across modern switching and server platforms. This capability makes it well suited for high-performance computing, distributed storage systems, and large-scale cloud deployments where efficient port utilization is critical.
As a passive DAC solution, the 400G-PDAC-OSFP-4xQSFP56 requires no external power and introduces near-zero latency, making it ideal for short-reach interconnects in latency-sensitive environments. The cable is optimized for distances up to 2 meters and utilizes high-quality 26 AWG twinax copper construction to ensure superior signal integrity and stable high-speed PAM4 transmission across all lanes. The heavier gauge conductor supports improved electrical performance at higher data rates while maintaining manageable cable flexibility.
The electrical interface conforms to OSFP and QSFP56 MSA specifications, ensuring broad interoperability with equipment from leading networking vendors. The cable incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality, enabling real-time monitoring of key parameters such as temperature and voltage for enhanced operational visibility. Compliance with CMIS 4.0 further supports advanced management and control features within compatible systems.
Designed for operation within a standard temperature range of 0 to 70°C, the cable is suitable for controlled data center environments. With an MTBF rating of 1,000,000 hours, it delivers long-term reliability for mission-critical infrastructure. Typical deployment scenarios include 400G to 100G breakout connections between spine and leaf switches, high-density server connectivity, and scalable cloud and AI cluster networking where high bandwidth and low latency are essential.
Our 400G OSFP to 4xQSFP56 passive DAC cable is CE and RoHS certified and compliant with relevant industry standards such as IEEE 802.3bs and IEEE 802.3cd, along with SFF-8636 specifications. Each unit undergoes comprehensive quality assurance testing, including electrical validation, connector inspection, and EEPROM verification, ensuring consistent performance and reliability prior to deployment.
