F5 Networks compatible F5-UPG-SFP+-R Description

EdgeOptic's F5-UPG-SFP+-R compatible is an F5 Networks-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor 10GBASE-SR SFP+ transceiver, supplied as the field-upgrade SFP+ optic for F5 BIG-IP appliances with 10G SFP+ uplink ports. F5-recognized EEPROM lets the optic register cleanly on TMOS SFP+ cages without a vendor-mismatch warning. F5-UPG-SFP+-R is the field-upgrade ordering form documented in F5 TechDocs; the equivalent OEM catalog form is OPT-0016-XX.

850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, multi-mode duplex LC. Reach is up to 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4 multi-mode fiber. TX output power runs −5 to 0 dBm, receiver sensitivity −11.1 dBm, link budget 6.1 dB. DDM/DOM supported via SFF-8472 for live link diagnostics on F5's transceiver inventory views. Compliance: SFF-8431, SFP MSA, IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR, RoHS, IEC60825-1 Class 1 laser safety. Operating range 0 to 70°C commercial.

F5 TechDocs lists F5-UPG-SFP+-R as the field-replacement SFP+ optic for the same BIG-IP platform set as OPT-0016-xx, including the i-series appliances (i2000, i4000, i5000, i7000, i10000, i11000, i15000), the r-series chassis, and VIPRION blades B2100, B2150, B4100, B4200 and B4300. Each module is programmed with F5-recognized EEPROM so the host registers the SFP+ as a recognized OEM optic across TMOS releases. The -R suffix in F5's naming convention appears on F5's field-replacement parts entries in TechDocs.

Within the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-300 multi-vendor platform, the same physical SFP+ hardware ships under more than 80 vendor codes covering 10G Ethernet, 1G Ethernet fallback, and the 1G to 10G Fibre Channel rate range. For F5 BIG-IP field upgrades, F5-UPG-SFP+-R is the F5-coded form; for other host vendors the equivalent EdgeOptic optic ships coded for that vendor's EEPROM identifier.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty included. For BIG-IP version coverage, datasheet details, or alternative F5 ordering routes, contact our sales team.

F5-UPG-SFP+-R FAQ

Which F5 BIG-IP models use the F5-UPG-SFP+-R?

F5 TechDocs documents F5-UPG-SFP+-R as the field-upgrade SFP+ for BIG-IP appliances with 10G SFP+ uplink ports, including the i-series (i2000, i4000, i5000, i7000, i10000, i11000, i15000), r-series chassis, and the legacy 2000, 4000, 5000, 7000, 8900, 8950, 10000, 11000 and 12000 BIG-IP families. For VIPRION blade slots, the same module covers B2100, B2150, B4100, B4200 and B4300 blades. Verify the exact appliance model and TMOS release against F5's Platform Accessories guide before deployment.

What is the difference between F5-UPG-SFP+-R and F5-UPG-SFP+?

Only F5-UPG-SFP+-R is documented as a current field-upgrade SFP+ optic in F5 TechDocs Transceiver Modules. F5-UPG-SFP+ without the -R suffix has no separate specifications listed in current F5 documentation. Verify the exact ordering code for your appliance against F5's Platform Accessories guide. Engineers cross-referencing a packing slip that shows F5-UPG-SFP+ without the -R should treat F5-UPG-SFP+-R as the supported field-upgrade form unless F5 documentation explicitly indicates a separate part.
