Our EDGEOPTIC 100M-SFP-F is a multi-vendor compatible 100BASE-TX copper SFP module designed to enable SFP-equipped networking devices to connect via standard copper twisted pair cabling for Fast Ethernet applications. This copper transceiver provides a cost-effective solution for short-reach connectivity in enterprise networks, industrial environments, and legacy infrastructure where fiber optic deployment is not required or where integration with existing 10/100 Mbps copper cabling delivers operational and economic advantages.

The 100M-SFP-F module supports auto-negotiation between 10BASE-T and 100BASE-T Ethernet standards, providing flexible dual-speed operation from 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps over standard Category 5 or better twisted pair cabling. This dual-speed capability enables seamless integration with legacy 10 Mbps equipment while supporting full Fast Ethernet performance where available. The module features an integrated RJ45 connector providing direct copper connectivity without requiring external media converters or additional cabling adapters. Transmission distances reach up to 100 meters over Category 5 or better unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling, consistent with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet distance specifications for copper media.

The 100M-SFP-F is a hot-pluggable SFP module featuring an RJ45 electrical interface. The host-side electrical interface conforms to INF-8074i and SFP MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP host systems across multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our copper SFP transceiver can be encoded for compatibility with 80+ equipment brands, enabling seamless integration into existing network infrastructure. The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality where supported by the host equipment, providing real-time operational parameters for comprehensive monitoring of transceiver health and performance.

The SFP form factor, while considered a legacy standard, remains widely deployed across enterprise, carrier, and industrial networks due to its proven reliability and broad equipment support. Fast Ethernet copper SFP modules provide particular value in scenarios where Gigabit speeds are unnecessary, such as legacy device connectivity, industrial automation systems with 10/100 Mbps requirements, surveillance camera networks, building management systems, and integration with older network infrastructure. The module operates within a standard 0°C to 70°C commercial temperature range, suitable for typical enterprise equipment room environments. Power requirements are met by a single +3.3V supply.

The transceiver achieves multi-vendor interoperability through adherence to industry MSA standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for full compatibility.
