1000BASE-BX SFP 60km Ind. Transceiver (1490/1310nm) (Side B) Description
BIDI-1.25G-SFP-61-BDI is a 1000BASE-BX SFP transceiver built for single strand bidirectional Gigabit Ethernet over one strand of single-mode fiber. This Side B module transmits at 1490 nm and receives at 1310 nm, reaching up to 60 km through a single LC/UPC connector with a 24 dB average link budget. It covers Gigabit Ethernet (1.25 Gbps), 100M Ethernet, and 1G Fibre Channel (1.0625 Gbps) across a 0.1 to 1.25 Gbps data rate range.
Because BiDi transmission carries both directions on one fiber through wavelength division, this Side B module must pair with a Side A counterpart transmitting at 1310 nm and receiving at 1490 nm, such as the EdgeOptic BIDI-1.25G-SFP-61-ADI. Two Side B modules on the same strand cannot establish a link, since both ends would transmit on the same wavelength.
The transmitter is a DFB laser rated 0 to 5 dBm, paired with a PIN photodiode receiver rated to −24 dBm sensitivity and −3 dBm overload. Onboard DDM/DOM reports operating parameters in real time. The transmit band spans 1470 to 1510 nm and the receive band spans 1290 to 1330 nm, so wavelength drift stays within the BiDi channel plan.
The module is rated for industrial operation from −40°C to +85°C, runs on +3.3V, and is built to CE, Class 1 FDA/IEC 60825-1, INF-8074i, RoHS, and SFP MSA requirements.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms and covered by a lifetime warranty. For volume pricing or help matching a Side A pair, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can two BIDI-1.25G-SFP-61-BDI (Side B) modules link to each other?
No. Both ends of a 1000BASE-BX link need complementary wavelengths on one fiber strand. This unit transmits at 1490 nm and receives at 1310 nm, so the far end needs a Side A module transmitting at 1310 nm and receiving at 1490 nm, such as the EdgeOptic BIDI-1.25G-SFP-61-ADI. Installing two Side B units on the same strand leaves both ends transmitting on 1490 nm with nothing at 1310 nm to receive, and the link will not come up.
What separates this module from the Side A version of the BIDI-1.25G-SFP-61 pair?
The wavelengths are reversed. This Side B module transmits at 1490 nm and receives at 1310 nm; the Side A counterpart transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1490 nm. Both share the same 60 km reach, 24 dB link budget, and industrial temperature rating; only the transmit and receive wavelengths differ between the two ends of the pair.
What does the industrial temperature rating on this module cover?
The module operates from −40°C to +85°C ambient, which extends beyond typical commercial-grade 0°C to 70°C ranges. This covers unheated cabinets, outdoor enclosures, and other environments with wider temperature swings than a climate-controlled server room. It is an environmental operating rating, not a claim about testing on any specific platform.
