Our EDGEOPTIC 100G-CFP-40 is a multi-vendor compatible 100GBASE-ER4 CFP optical module engineered for extended-reach 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications operating over single-mode fiber networks. The 100G-CFP-40 module implements 4-channel LAN WDM technology utilizing wavelengths at 1295.56nm, 1300.05nm, 1304.58nm, and 1309.14nm for both transmission and reception, delivering data rates from 103.125 to 111.81 Gbps with OTU4 optical transport network support. Our 100G CFP ER4 transceiver incorporates DFB (Distributed Feedback) laser technology for transmission coupled with high-sensitivity PIN photodiode array for reception, optimized for long-haul performance in the original CFP form factor.

The transceiver delivers an exceptional 18 dB guaranteed optical link budget, supporting transmission distances up to 40 kilometers over standard single-mode fiber infrastructure. Each of the four optical lanes operates at approximately 25 Gbps using NRZ (Non-Return to Zero) modulation, with precisely controlled average launch power of 2.9 dBm per lane. The enhanced receiver sensitivity of -20.9 dBm per lane combined with increased overload tolerance up to 5.5 dBm accommodates significant span loss variations typical in metropolitan and regional network deployments. While first-generation CFP represents a legacy form factor approaching end-of-life status, these modules remain critical for maintaining existing long-haul 100G infrastructure where CFP-based platforms continue operational service.

100G-CFP-40 compatible module features hot-pluggable deployment with duplex LC connectors as the optical interface. The electrical interface adheres to CFP MSA specifications including SFF-8419 power management and SFF-8636 management interface standards, ensuring seamless compatibility with standard CFP host systems across multiple vendor equipment. Our 100GBASE-ER4 CFP transceiver supports encoding for compatibility with 80+ equipment brands through custom EEPROM programming. The module integrates comprehensive DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) capabilities, providing real-time telemetry including per-lane transmitted and received optical power, module temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage through the MSA-compliant management interface.

Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3ba for 100 Gigabit Ethernet extended reach applications and OTU4 compatibility for carrier-grade transport networks. The integrated CDR (Clock and Data Recovery) functionality maintains signal integrity across the full 40km operational distance. Operating within 0 to 70°C temperature range with single +3.3V power supply, the module consumes up to 12W, reflecting first-generation CFP power requirements for extended-reach applications.
