4-Channel Double Fiber CWDM Add/Drop (OADM) Overview
The DCAD-4 is a 4-channel double-fiber passive CWDM add/drop unit (2-sided OADM) built around a Thin-Film Filter (TFF) optical core. Configure it to the deployment: choose a mini-LGX or LGX housing, select one of five CWDM band groups (1271-1331nm, 1311-1371nm, 1391-1451nm, 1471-1531nm, or 1551-1611nm), and add the 1310nm monitor port where out-of-band link monitoring access is needed (LGX housing only, offered on the 1391-1451nm, 1471-1531nm, and 1551-1611nm bands). Every configuration ships with LC/UPC connectors, ITU-T G.694.2 channel spacing, and passive insertion loss below 1.8 dB.

4 Channel Double Fiber Passive CWDM 2-sided OADM Unit Description
DCAD-4 is a 4-channel double-fiber passive CWDM add/drop unit (OADM). It adds and drops the same four channels on both the East and West line sides. The DCLT-4 line termination unit only terminates one line side; the DCMD-4 mux/demux unit only combines or splits channels, with no add or drop function.
Configure the housing, wavelength band, and 1310nm window for the deployment. Choose a mini-LGX or LGX housing, then select one of five CWDM band groups on the ITU-T G.694.2 20 nm grid: 1271 to 1331 nm, 1311 to 1371 nm, 1391 to 1451 nm, 1471 to 1531 nm, or 1551 to 1611 nm. The 1310nm window (the Window Port option) is available only on the LGX housing, and only on the three longest-wavelength bands (1391 to 1451 nm, 1471 to 1531 nm, 1551 to 1611 nm); the mini-LGX housing has no physical location for the window. The EXP expansion port is not offered on this SKU, so channel count is fixed at the time of order.
All configurations use LC/UPC connectors and a Thin Film Filter (TFF) optical core. Passband insertion loss is below 1.8 dB on non-window combos and below 2.1 dB on window combos; express channel insertion loss runs below 2.5 dB and below 3.0 dB respectively, and the window itself adds 1.0 dB. Adjacent-channel isolation is 30 dB, non-adjacent isolation is 40 dB, passband ripple is 0.3 dB, PDL is 0.2 dB, and PMD is 0.1 ps. Operating temperature spans -5 to 70 C, MTBF is rated at 1,000,000 hours, and the unit meets CE, ISO, RoHS, and ITU-T G.694.2 compliance.
DCAD-4 units are typically deployed at CWDM ring or point-to-point add/drop nodes, where East and West line-side channels need to be added and dropped locally without disturbing the express channels. For configuration guidance or volume orders, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between an OADM add/drop unit and a line termination unit?
An OADM add/drop unit adds and drops the same channels on both the East and West line sides. The DCLT family only terminates one line side. DCMD mux/demux units only combine or split channels; they do not add or drop any of them.
Does the mini-LGX housing support the 1310nm monitor port?
No. The monitor port is offered only in the LGX housing, and only on the 1391 to 1451 nm, 1471 to 1531 nm, and 1551 to 1611 nm band groups. The mini-LGX housing has no physical location for a monitor port, so it cannot be added to that configuration.
Can the channel count be expanded after ordering?
No. The EXP expansion port is not offered on this SKU. Channel count is fixed to the selected 4-channel band group at the time of order and cannot be expanded afterward.
When should I select the 1310nm monitor port option?
The 1310 nm monitor port is an LGX-housing option that provides an out-of-band monitoring tap. It adds 1.0 dB of additional insertion loss and is used for link monitoring without disrupting live traffic.
