2-Channel Double Fiber CWDM Line Termination Overview

The DCLT-2 is a 2-channel double-fiber passive CWDM line termination unit (one-sided OADM) built around a Thin-Film Filter (TFF) optical core. Configure it to the deployment: choose a mini-LGX or LGX housing, select one of nine CWDM wavelength pairs on the ITU-T G.694.2 grid (1271nm/1291nm through 1591nm/1611nm), and add the 1310nm monitor port where OTDR test access is needed. Every configuration ships with LC/UPC connectors, 20 nm channel spacing, and passive insertion loss below 1.2 dB.

2 Channels Double Fiber Passive CWDM Line Termination Unit Description

The DCLT-2-CFG is a configurable passive CWDM optical add/drop (OADM) unit built as a one-sided line termination. It extracts two channels at the install location only and does not add them back at the far end of the link, unlike a two-sided add/drop multiplexer. The unit ships as either a mini-LGX or LGX cassette, selected at configuration.

Channel selection covers nine CWDM channel pairs on the ITU-T G.694.2 grid, from 1271nm/1291nm through 1591nm/1611nm, with 20 nm channel spacing and a passband of plus or minus 6.5 nm around the center wavelength. Filtering uses thin film filter (TFF) technology. Connections use LC/UPC connectors throughout.

An optional 1310 nm window can be added at configuration (the Window Port option), providing a separate 1310nm pass-through path alongside the CWDM channels; the window itself carries 1.0 dB of insertion loss on its own path. Selecting the window raises the through-path passband insertion loss from 1.2 dB to about 1.5 dB. Isolation is 30 dB between adjacent channels and 40 dB between non-adjacent channels, with 0.3 dB channel passband ripple, 0.2 dB polarization dependent loss and 0.1 ps polarization mode dispersion. Directivity is 50 dB and return loss is 45 dB.

Maximum optical power handling is 500 mW. As a passive component, the unit needs no power input or active cooling and is data rate and protocol neutral, passing any signal within its passband. Operating temperature range is -5 to 70 degrees Celsius, humidity range is 5 to 95 percent, and storage temperature range is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Mean time between failures is rated at 1,000,000 hours. The unit is CE, ISO, ITU-T G.694.2 and RoHS compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the mini-LGX and LGX housing options?

Housing is a configuration choice on the DCLT-2-CFG, not a filter performance differentiator. Both the mini-LGX and LGX options are cassette-style modules; consult the datasheet for exact mounting and sub-rack dimensions. Optical specifications, including insertion loss, isolation and passband, are identical regardless of which housing is selected; choose the housing based on the cassette slot format already in use in the rack.

Can I monitor the DCLT-2-CFG's optical signal without interrupting traffic?

Yes, by adding the optional 1310 nm monitor port at configuration. It provides a 1% tap off the through path for out of band optical power monitoring, letting a test set or monitoring receiver sample the link without interrupting the main signal path. Selecting the monitor port raises the through-path passband insertion loss from 1.2 dB to about 1.5 dB, so include it in link budget calculations when it is selected.

Is the DCLT-2-CFG a one-sided or two-sided OADM device?

The DCLT-2-CFG is a one-sided line termination unit. It extracts two channels at the install location only and does not add them back onto the fiber at the far end of the link. A two-sided add/drop unit would insert channels back onto the line after extraction; this unit does not perform that function, so plan channel routing accordingly on multi-site CWDM links.

How much insertion loss does the DCLT-2-CFG add to the link budget?

Passband insertion loss is 1.2 dB when the unit is configured without the monitor port. Selecting the optional 1310nm monitor port raises passband insertion loss to about 1.5 dB. Include the applicable figure in the overall link budget alongside fiber attenuation, connector loss and any other passive components in the path.
