4-Channel Double Fiber CWDM Line Termination Overview

The DCLT-4 is a 4-channel double-fiber passive CWDM line termination unit (one-sided OADM) built around a Thin-Film Filter (TFF) optical core. Configure it to the deployment: choose a mini-LGX or LGX housing, select one of five CWDM band groups (1271-1331nm, 1311-1371nm, 1391-1451nm, 1471-1531nm, or 1551-1611nm), and add the 1310nm monitor port where OTDR test access is needed. Every configuration ships with LC/UPC connectors, ITU-T G.694.2 channel spacing, and passive insertion loss below 1.8 dB.

4 Channels Double Fiber Passive CWDM Line Termination Unit Description

The DCLT-4 is a passive CWDM double fiber line termination unit that performs one-sided (East or West) optical add or drop multiplexing. It adds or drops four CWDM channels per configuration over LC/UPC connectors at a single point in the fiber link, rather than at two points.

DCLT-4 ships as a configurable product with three buyer selectable options: housing type (mini-LGX or LGX), wavelength band group, and 1310nm window (Yes or No, the Window Port option). Five band groups are available, each covering four CWDM channels on the ITU-T G.694.2 grid: 1271 to 1331 nm, 1311 to 1371 nm, 1391 to 1451 nm, 1471 to 1531 nm, and 1551 to 1611 nm. Select the band group matching the CWDM channels already deployed at both ends of the link. The EXP Expansion Port is fixed to No and is not offered as a configurable option.

DCLT-4 uses Thin Film Filter technology with no active or electrical components and no digital diagnostic monitoring. Channel spacing is 20 nm with a passband of plus or minus 6.5 nm, and insertion loss through the passband is 1.8 dB. The optional 1310nm window adds a separate 1.0 dB insertion loss on its own path rather than a single combined figure, raising the main passband loss slightly to 2.1 dB when enabled. Isolation is 30 dB adjacent and 40 dB non-adjacent, with 0.3 dB passband ripple, 0.2 dB PDL, 0.1 ps PMD, 50 dB directivity, and 45 dB return loss. The unit handles up to 500 mW optical power, operates from -5C to 70C at 5 to 95 percent humidity, and is CE, ISO, and RoHS compliant.

The 1310nm window, when selected, provides a separate pass-through path alongside the CWDM channels without breaking the live link. Choose the DCLT-4 for one-sided add and drop, East or West. For add and drop access at two points along the link, a two-sided add/drop OADM unit such as the DCAD is the more appropriate choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does enabling the 1310nm monitor port add insertion loss to the DCLT-4?

Yes. The 1310nm monitor port is a low power tap for testing and analyzing the optical signal without breaking the live link, selected as Yes or No at time of order. Enabling it adds a separate 1.0 dB insertion loss on that tap, on top of the unit's 1.8 dB passband insertion loss.

Which CWDM wavelength band group should I order for my DCLT-4?

The DCLT-4 is available in five selectable band groups of four CWDM channels each: 1271 to 1331 nm, 1311 to 1371 nm, 1391 to 1451 nm, 1471 to 1531 nm, and 1551 to 1611 nm, all on the ITU-T G.694.2 grid with 20 nm channel spacing and a passband of plus or minus 7.5 nm. Select the band group that matches the CWDM wavelengths already in use by the transceivers deployed at each end of the link. Channels outside the ordered band group will be blocked by the filter and will not pass through that unit.

Should I order the DCLT-4 line termination unit or a two-sided add/drop OADM unit such as the DCAD?

The DCLT-4 is a one-sided line termination unit; it adds or drops CWDM channels at a single point, East or West, in the fiber link. A two-sided add/drop OADM unit, such as the DCAD, instead adds and drops channels at two points along the link. Choose the DCLT-4 when the application only needs termination at one end of the link, and choose a two-sided DCAD unit when add/drop access is needed at both sides.
