Our DWDM Cisco compatible solutions – Realize the full potential of your dark fiber

Our DWDM Cisco compatible products

Our DWDM Cisco compatible portfolio was formed using the Cisco DWDM SFP compatibility matrix, where we matched our optical products to the DWDM Cisco product nomenclature to help network professionals navigate in our product range. Using the C-Band (Common Band) optical channel plan as described by ITU-T G.694.1, DWDM technology remains the dominant method for extending the capacity of dark fiber. DWDM solutions allow the transmission of up to 40 independent parallel data streams over a pair of single-mode optical fibers or 20 parallel data streams over a single (BIDI) single-mode optical fiber. DWDM multiplexing units are fully data rate or line protocol neutral, are simple to install and require no configuration or maintenance.

Our Cisco DWDM compatible portfolio includes tunable Cisco DWDM SFP+ and XFP optical transceivers that enable users to tune their wavelengths based on actual network demand, fixed wavelength compatible Cisco DWDM optics 10G SFP+, XFP, and 1.25G SFP and passive Cisco DWDM product alternatives for end-to-end applications. In addition to the Cisco DWDM standard range, which is typically limited to 80 km product versions, we can also provide alternatives with a reach of up to 100 km, or 40 km for applications where such a reach is relevant. We would be delighted to assist you and advise you on the optimal DWDM solution components. Please Contact Us.

Cisco DWDM Tunable compatible modules

The distinguishing feature of the compatible SFP+ and XFP Tunable modules listed below is their ability to support wavelength tuning according to network designer needs. This is beneficial for large-scale DWDM networks as it can reduce spares and greatly simplify network planning. The Cisco host CLI or an external transceiver programming device is used to tune the wavelength. Not all Cisco host devices support wavelength tuning functionality. Nowadays, the Tunable Cisco DWDM SFP+ compatibles are more popular than the Tunable  XFP simply because SFP+ form factor is more current. Below mentioned tunable Cisco DWDM optics can be tuned into the 50GHz DWDM ITU-T channel spectrum and can connect devices as far apart as 80 kilometers. According to Cisco data, DWDM-SFP10G-C-S is specified for a reach of 70km while DWDM-SFP10G-C has a reach of 80km; however, for our compatible tunable DWDM SFP+ for both Cisco module alternatives, we use the same hardware that supports 80km distance.

Cisco DWDM Fixed Lambda compatible modules

Our compatible fixed lambda Cisco DWDM optics portfolio includes 10G Cisco DWDM SFP+, Cisco DWDM XFP, and 1.25G Cisco DWDM SFP compatible products that operate in the ITU 100-GHz DWDM spectrum. Notably, modules are non-tunable and must be ordered with a fixed transmit wavelength. Fixed lambda compatible DWDM Cisco standard portfolio consists of modules with interconnection distances of up to 80km; however, we can offer Cisco compatible DWDM modules for distances of up to 100km, if you are interested in learning more, please Contact Us. As for the fixed lambda Cisco DWDM products, one side note to be aware of when ordering DWDM optical transceivers is the fact that Cisco Channel plan (IDs) differ from the industry standard ITU-T Channel plan (IDs) in naming.

DWDM Passive Solutions

Cisco DWDM products include optical transceivers and active DWDM devices, however passive Cisco DWDM MUX and DEMUX devices are unavailable, unlike in case with CWDM. Because we can configure our compatible alternatives to Cisco DWDM optics to function on practically all regularly used Cisco platforms, we are glad to offer our passive DWDM product line. In contrast to the Cisco DWDM MUX, which is an active device, our passive solutions do not need power, and their MTBF is almost endless. Passive DWDM systems may deliver up to 40 parallel wavelengths per fiber pair and are independent of data rate and protocol. Today, the most common data rate deployed in such solutions is 10G, which allows 400G of capacity per fiber pair. Passive DWDM technologies that enables connections over a single optical cable are also available. In this instance, the transmission directions are separated by wavelengths, and the maximum throughput is 20 duplex data streams. We anticipate that the 25G data rate will soon gain popularity, which will increase the need for passive DWDM systems. Our sales staff will gladly assist you in selecting the ideal Cisco DWDM optics alternatives and passive multiplexers.
