Double Fiber Passive

CWDM

Double Fiber CWDM mux (passive filters) product line is part of our xWDM product line uses up to 18 CWDM(Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplex) optical channel plan as defined by ITU-T G.694.2 allowing to organize up to 18 parallel and independent data streams over pair of single-mode optical fibers using CWDM multiplexing. xWDM technology remains as today’s prevailing technology for extending black fiber capacity. Main advantages of xWDM technology are its passive nature – no power supply or cooling necessary, robustness – no special microclimate requirements and as passive element, it has MTBF 100+ Years. xWDM – it is fully data rate or line protocol neutral – it is possible to use with colored transceivers supporting such applications as 1G/10G Ethernet, SDH/SONET and 8/4/2/1G Fiber Channel. It is simple to install, requires no configuration or maintenance. We designed Double Fiber CWDM mux product line focusing on minimizing insertion loss allowing to extend maximum reach of CWDM technology, logical structure allowing to minimize initial investments and support gradual growth of CWDM capacity.

Double Fiber CWDM mux

For Maximum Capacity:

For CWDM connections maximum capacity is limited by number of available 18 wavelengths. In maximum capacity scenario, it is possible to have up to 18 independent and parallel connections over pair of single-mode fiber. We offer both – 18 and 16 channel multiplexers, where 16 channel option has slightly smaller insertion loss:

For Granular Expansion:

Our eight and four channel mux support granular growth of double Fiber CWDM connection as 8+8, 8+4 or 4+4. As initial configuration, our hi-band mux with expansion ports (E) can be used and latter connection capacity can be upgraded by adding corresponding low-band (L) mux plug-in modules:

For Minimal Insertion Loss:

For cases when extremely tight on link budget, or no more expansion planned, You can use our 8-channel and 4-channel mux products without expansion ports and small insertion loss:

For Adding/Dropping channels:

For adding/dropping CWDM channels across sites, we categorize our OADM product line in two groups. Line termination units we use in case, when dropped channels need to be interfacing towards only one side (east or west) of link. OADM units we use when dropped channels are interfacing both sides (east and west) of CWDM double Fiber link:
