How to fix “Only ATI qualified modules are supported in this port” error on Allied Telesis?
Allied Telesis, like many network equipment manufacturers, designs its devices to operate optimally with transceivers that meet specific compatibility and performance standards. While the company offers a range of transceivers tailored for their products, third-party transceivers are not restricted and can also be used for optimal performance.
Nevertheless, Allied Telesis switches generally accept third-party transceivers in standard ports without issues. However, when it comes to stacking ports, there are specific considerations:
- Stacking Ports Configuration: In models like the AT-x510DP series, certain SFP+ slots are designated for stacking purposes. For instance, in the AT-x510DP-28GTX switch, slots 27 and 28 are configured as stacking ports by default. These slots are optimized for stacking transceivers and may not support standard SFP or SFP+ transceivers unless the stacking feature is disabled.
- Transceiver Compatibility: While third-party transceivers might function in standard ports, their performance in stacking ports isn’t guaranteed. To use transceivers in stack ports, it is mandatory to recode the transceivers.
Using 10Gbps SFP+ transceivers in Allied Telesis AT-XS916MXS stacking port, with standard compatibility, which is used on all Allied Telesis equipment (generic EEPROM), you may receive this type of error:
