The Cisco WSP Q40GLR4L compatible module is operating over four parallel pairs of singlemode optical fiber providing four independent optical communication lanes separated from each other using WDM technology. It has a minimum guaranteed optical budget of 4.5 dB, which in most cases is enough to reach 2 km distance using single-mode cable as per WSP Q40GLR4L Datasheet specification.
