# Product Description
The QSFP-SFPP-ADPT is an Extreme Networks compatible 40G QSFP+ SFP+ adapter that allows for a smooth shift from a quad-lane port to a single-lane optical transceiver while maintaining high performance. Because it provides the option to employ lower speed SFP+ modules in empty QSFP+ ports or when a lower speed connection is required, it enables for a much more flexible migration path towards 40G Ethernet. QSFP-SFPP-ADPT an Extreme Networks compliant adapter can be plugged directly into equipment that has a 40G QSFP+ port, and SFP+ transceivers can be inserted into the adapter to expand the installation flexibility. In a four-lane configuration, the SFP+ transceiver will transmit using the first lane (10Gbps) from all four 40G ports.
